Some background information.
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, lived on the east coast for about 4 years and then moved to Tucson in late 1983 with my wife, Nancy. We have two sons, Karl, 29, now workng as an archaeologist here in the Southwest and Peter, 26, living and working in New York City. Family is the top priority in our lives.
Explaining the"gold standard"connection.
I've been the owner/operator of Norton Goldsmiths Ltd. here in Tucson since 1986, working by myself, doing fine jewelry manufacture and repair for a number of retail jewelry stores. The high volume of work became less fun than it should be, so it was time for a change. In the fall of 2002 I started my new career in the real estate business. This field (house / duplex / shed... )has interested me for a long time for a few reasons. There's tangible, true value being dealt with, I get to meet new people and learn new things constantly, and the work is VERY different from being at a jeweler's bench. I continue to work as a goldsmith and since I'm not chained to the bench anymore, that work is fun again.
I work with Long Realty Company in particular because they have the best resources for both agents and clients, and I think that Long Realty believes in"gold standard"service like I do.
Bicycling as a house hunting method!!?
I enjoy bicycling, and all of various bicycle communities here in Tucson. I am a board member of the Greater Arizona Bicycling Association( GABA) http://www.bikegaba.org/ and I support El Grupo Youth Cycling http://elgrupocycling.org/ a youth oriented organization that that "empowers youth through bicycling" and BICAS http://bicas.org/ Bicycle Inter Community Art & Salvage, a group who provides resources to help educate, recycle, create with bicycles as their means. I am also a longtime member of the Perimeter Bicycling Association Bike Patrol http://www.perimeterbicycling.com/ where we ride on group rides, helping other riders as needed, while enjoying the ride ourselves.
I hope to earn cyclists as clients, with a focus on access to good riding areas.
It's fun to house-hunt on bikes, whether you're a long time rider or you just like the fresh air. On a bicycle you get a great sense of an area, it's faster than walkng and more direct than being in a car.
Service is the bottom line.
